GM 235 Engine Machine Work
Once we have Hot tanked and magnafluxed the parts we are ready to start the machining process. If any core component part is damaged, you will be informed that we need a replacement. Otherwise we proceed. I’ve included visuals to aid in what each process entails.
Bore & Hone Block
The engine block cylinder walls get out-of-round, get ridges/lip, and scoring/scratches over time. Boring the block restores it to factory specifications.
Engine Block Honing
Honing creates cross-hatch valleys, a low-friction surface, that traps oil so the piston rings have a proper seal.
Recondition Connecting Rods
235 Connecting Rods need love too. Clean, resurface, honed, restore clearances, and balance.
Chevy 235 Short Block
After machining the various components; Block, Head, Crank, Cam and Connecting Rods, it’s time to start building the Short Block.
We’ve got new pistons, rings, bearings, and timing gears, we are ready for assembly.
If you want to rebuild your 235 Short Block, this is the “Bottom” end, Block Only, that we refer to.
No cylinder head, lifters, pushrods, oil pump, or gaskets.
Building a 235 Long Block Engine
If you need the whole engine rebuilt, which is the Engine Block with Cylinder Head, then these photos are for you.
The head and block are combined with the valvetrain components, pushrods, valve lifters, oil pump, and gaskets.
Once together you will have a Long Block Engine. Here is a sampling of the 235’s we’ve rebuilt.
